In the final of four portraits showing three generations of women, Edna, 89, Brenda, 55, and Sarah, 30, tell a story of increasing prosperity and independence for women in the 20th century.
After leaving school at the age of 14 and spending 15 years in service as a maid, Edna decided to send her daughter Brenda to elocution lessons.
In a break from family tradition, Brenda then went on to send her own daughter Sarah to private school. Sarah now has a successful career in the City.
