The Chinese Tutankhamun

on BBC Two England

with Magnus Magnusson and Professor William Watson

The celebrated Exhibition of Chinese Antiquities now open at the Royal Academy in London has revealed a new world of artistic and archaeological treasures to the British public.

From this exhibition Chronicle introduces a unique film, made by the Chinese themselves, of the opening of a 2,000-year-old tomb containing what can only be described as the Chinese Tutankhamun. Not only the actual food, rich possessions and delicate silk clothing of the Marquess of Tai were discovered, but also the ingeniously preserved body of the Marquess herself.

Magnus Magnusson talks to Professor William Watson, academic adviser to the Chinese Exhibition Council, on the background to these.
