It's Not Unusual: a Lesbian and Gay History: Age of Innocence

on BBC Two England

A three-part series charting the story of gay life in Britain since 1918 through the intimate tales of gay men and lesbians.

This first episode starts in the inter-war years when public awareness of homosexuality barely existed. Interviewees include a friend of the celebrated twenties lesbian writer Radclyffe Hall and a wartime drag artist from London's East End, while a former pilot, a naval officer and a nurse describe the excitement and costs of forbidden love during the Second World War.
