This film is based on an assignment given to a group of fifth-year pupils from Cowley St John School in Oxford in which they find out people's attitudes to work and leisure. Among the people they interview are trainee nurses, a policewoman, a chaplain, a production line worker at British Leyland, a draughtsman and the Mayor of Oxford, who also squeezes into his working life the roles of shop steward, school governor and worker priest.
