Jean-Jacques Rousseau
In 1766 the Swiss-born writer
Jean-Jacques Rousseau sought refuge in England, aided by Scottish philosopher David Hume. His books, which were considered highly subversive, had been burnt in France and Switzerland. But, as Jonathan Ree discovers, Rousseau's time in Britain was far from happy. Producer David Edmonds
