The Song and the Story: Apocalypse Then

on BBC One London

with Isla St Clair
For 20 years Napoleon dominated Europe. He changed the history of France and the world. But he did something else - he invented total war. Everyone would be involved, young and old, men and boys, women and children. A few adventurous girls even dressed in men's clothes and enlisted in the army.
Isla restates some of these adventures and sings some rare and lovely songs written when only this tiny island stood against him.
