A romantic opera in three acts by CARL MARIA VON WEBER
Libretto by FREIDRICH KIND
Sung in German with English subtitles.
This opera was an instant success after its first performance in 1821. Within a short time there were three different productions running simultaneously in London alone. Not only did it capture the popular imagination of the day but has become the embodiment of the spirit of 19th-century Germany and the Romantic era as a whole.....
The story, set in a rustic Bohemian landscape, tells of a young hunter's almost fatal meddling with the forces of evil in attempting to win his beloved.
