The Royal Ballet features in this superb revival of Frederick Ashton 's 1960 comic masterpiece about life and love in the English countryside, starring
Marianela Nunez and Carlos Acosta and staged at the Royal Opera House in London's Covent Garden. It's a multi-faceted piece that has something for everyone - dancing chickens, clog and maypole dances, and a pantomime dame. Headstrong and self-serving by nature, her attempt to marry off her daughter to the imbecilic son of an affluent farmer looks to be thwarted by impassioned love. Anthony Twiner conducts the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House.
