Aye, it is an offence that cries to heaven that men are become chattles so that Bristol merchants might wax rich!' Wesley preaches in the New Room at Bristol-one of the original Methodist chapels and now restored to its 1748 condition - a powerful and wide-ranging sermon including a scathing attack on the local slave traders.
