Last of a seven-part series filmed over two years inside the secretive world of Customs and Excise. The Chancers
Dover at night from the white cliffs resembles a Star Wars set - great pools of light, ceaseless coming and going, a relentless stream of humanity, goods and vehicles.
This film follows the 'duty men' on the grind of the busy night shift - from the monotony of hung-over day-trippers to the pressure of snake-like queues of lorries and cars, all wanting to get out of Dover quickly.
In this chaos, and against overwhelming odds, there are some chance finds; tobacco, a drugs haul and an astonishing booze discovery. But even with the successes, as one officer explains, 'It's horrifying to sit and think at the end of a shift: what have I let through tonight?
What have I personally let through?'
