Chris Bonington introduces the 1980 Expedition Film Competition and presentation of The Mick Burke Award with Lord Hunt . from the Royal Geographical Society, London
Exploring a vast underground cave system in the mountains of Spain; searching for war canoes and their builders in the Solomon Islands. These, and the films shown last week were made by amateur film-makers. Tonight one of six expeditions, selected to compete by the BBC Natural History Unit and the Royal Geographical Society, will win the award which is a tribute to the cameraman Mick Burke, who lost his life whilst filming on the south-west face of Mount Everest.
