Gorillas - in the Midst of Man Curious, playful, intelligent and almost entirely vegetarian, mountain gorillas are among humans' closest relatives.
Sadly, their dwindling population now numbers fewer than 400, surviving in a tiny conservation area in central Africa.
This film shows a mountain gorilla baby, just two hours old, as it is cradled gently in its mother's arms. It will grow up in an intimate family group led by a huge silverback male. Its progress is watched carefully by a dedicated group of scientists and volunteers, following the years of research by the late Dian Fossey.
Narrated by Brian Blessed. This film won the 1991 Gold Plaque at the Sondrio Film Festival in Italy.
