When universities all over the Western world erupted in violence in 1968, the chief ' Guru' of the New Left student movement was HERBERT MARCUSE. In this programme Marcuse tells how this 'came about. His story begins between the two world wars, when the failure of the world economic crisis to lead to the break-up of the Capitalist system caused him and other Marxists to re-evaluate Marxist theory.
