The world's most exciting player, Ilie Nastase of Romania, was the top seed in the first major British championship of the new season. Nastase, the reigning Grand Prix Masters Champion, missed some of the early tournaments this year and will be looking for valuable points at Bournemouth which has been nominated as one of the major qualifying tournaments of the 1973 Grand Prix.
