Golf: the Masters

on BBC Two England

Tonight, live from Augusta, Georgia,
Bernhard Langer will eitherjoin Jack Nicklaus and Nick Faldo as a successful defender of the Augusta
Masters, or he will help his successor into sport's most celebrated item of gents' outfitting - the coveted green jacket awarded to the winner of this unique "by invitation only" major tournament.
After three-and-a-half days of rising tension the final back nine holes - particularly the "Amen Corner" of the 1 lth, 12thand 13th where Langer sealed last year's title - will decide the competition.
But negotiate this cluster successfully and further traps await those whose nerve is beginning to wilt. There are the deceptive greens at 14 and 17, the waterthat guards the 15th green and replaces the 16th fairway, and finally the daunting 18th. This most beautiful of courses can be the most cruel.
