Britain's Nigel Mansell, now an IndyCar racing star, won this race in the previous two seasons. This year the Williams team's hopes are pinned on another Briton, Damon Hill, and his French team-mate Alain Prost. Prost won the British Grand Prix in the two years before Mansell, and will be the man to beat again this time.
