A Running Commentary by Squadron-Leader Helmore, relayed from Heston Air Park, Hounslow

The race starts at 7.0 a.m. and is limited to bona-fide civil aircraft entirely constructed in the British Empire which can attain a speed of at least one hundred miles an hour. All the handicap allowances are made at the start at Heston.

The competitors subsequently pass through five control points at each of which each machine must wait forty minutes - Norwich (106 miles), Leeds (385. miles), Hooton (566 miles), Heston (731 miles), Bristol (888 miles). The finish is back at Heston again (982 miles) Our commentary will be given at the fourth control point, when competitors are again at Heston.
