Buxton
This week Paul Gambaccini and Fran Morrison visit the Buxton Festival.
This adventurous festival has taken for its theme this year the 100th anniversary of the birth of the Hungarian composer Zoltan Kodaly. There are songs written by Kodaly, sung by his young widow Sarolta, and, from the famous Opera House, an extract from the British premiere of his opera Hary Janos.
Kodaly and children were synonymous, as is the Buxton Festival and children's opera. This year Charles Strouse , who wrote Annie, has a premiere of his new musical Nightingale. And lending their particular blend of anarchic humour to the programme are this year's Cambridge Footlights.
