A Century in the Saddle
Early one morning last summer 28 cyclists set out to ride a Century - 100 miles along some of the prettiest highways and byways in England between Oxford and Coventry. But this was no ordinary century-the riders were mounted on machines dating back 100 years ! or more, known as Ordinaries, or, more commonly, as ' Penny Far-things '. The event commemorated the founding of the Southern Veteran Cycle Club 25 years ago and was organised by John ' Pinky ' Pinkerton.
