The Lane

on BBC Two England

The Law
Police sergeant Gerry Drewett's ancestor was a prime suspect for the Jack the Ripper murders. A hundred years later, when he and Inspector Peter Vingoe were assigned to the same streets, their brief was simple - do something about race relations - and they did. With hand-picked officers and a new kind of policing, their patch now enjoys an uneasy calm. But the guys on the beat, including 'Rocky', Harry and Ron can't be too careful.
