Newseries Birdwatch in the Camargue

on BBC One London

Flamingo City
Live from the south of France. BBC outside broadcast cameras lie in wait in the saltwater lagoons of the Camargue, ready to catch the spectacular evening flight of the pink flamingo.
This is the only regular flamingo breeding colony in Europe. Twenty years ago they stopped nesting: last year there were 10,000 pairs. A remarkable story of conservation. Tony Soper and Roger Lovegrove are spending a week in this hot, y marshy bird paradise where the River Rhone runs into, the Mediterranean.
