A Spanish Legacy

on BBC Two England

A new version of three programmes about painting which show the beauty and splendour of master-pieces by three artists who worked for the kings of Spain:
Titian, El Greco and Velazquez 2: Paintings by Titian
Tonight's programme explores some of Titian's finest paintings, specially photographed where they hang today. Taking part:
Jennifer Fletcher , Lecturer in the History of Art at the Courtauld Institute, London University
Colin Thompson , Director of the National Galleries of Scotland, and Eric Young , art historian
Xavier de Salas , Director of the Prado Museum.
Introduced by Christopher Burstall
One had the sensation of a kind of visual transmogrification, as if one's eyes had come out on stalks and were roving over the surfaces of the painting itself. (SCOTSMAN) To see in clear colour some of the most sensuous paintings of the Renaissance was like a tonic on a grey February day.
