Land of the Lost: The Lost World

on BBC Television

Film of the Oxford and Cambridge Expedition to South America.

The mysterious mountain of Roraima, 9,000 feet high, lies at the junction of British Guiana, Venezuela, and Brazil. Its name means 'The Mother of Rivers' and it is believed locally to be the source of all the diamonds found in these parts. In his book 'The Lost World' Sir Arthur Conan Doyle peopled Roraima with dinosaurs and pterodactyls. Three university men on foot find the real thing hardly less hazardous.
