Science at War: Rocket Men

on BBC Two England

The series that examines how science has changed the ways in which wars are fought.

In Nazi Germany scientists invented the ballistic missile in the hope that it would ensure their country's victory in the Second World War. Although the weapon failed to alter the Nazis' position, America's postwar appropriation of the technology began a global race for supremacy that transformed western science and proved instrumental in defining the terms of the Cold War.
