A series of six documentary films in which the flavour of a vanishing Britain is captured by Terence Carroll
There was a fishing fleet at Hastings in 1066, and there still is. Like the song-celebrated Fishermen of England, the fishermen of Hastings have ridden out many a storm, but can they weather the economic squalls that lie ahead? For while they manhandle their trawlers up and down the beach on greased timbers there are international fleets catching and refrigerating fish in thousands of tons. How long can they survive with their comparatively primitive and not very productive methods?
