It's A Square World

And to show you how square it is Michael Bentine has invited Dick Emery, Clive Dunn, Benny Lee, Frank Thornton, Bruce Lacey
(BBC Recording)

[Round and About] The man with the mop of fuzzy black hair and grasshopper eyes gave a laugh like a faulty hot-water system in its final throes. "Mad, mad, mad," he said. We looked round the studio at a water tank into which singer Benny Lee was slowly descending in full evening dress, at Dick Emery preparing to give a football commentary, and Clive Dunn talking about chess, and were inclined to agree. For this was Michael Bentine's answer to our question "What kind of programme is this?" Officially called "It's a Square World," it can be seen this Friday evening, and from what we saw of the run-through we can only describe it as a mixture of "Panorama," "Sportsview," "The Goon Show," and "Underwater Adventure."
