Huey Long

on BBC Two England

Documentary on Huey Long, one of America's most controversial politicians.

Long ruled the state of Louisiana as governor and then as US senator from 1928 until his assassination in 1935. His radical reforms brought the state into the 20th century and had a dramatic impact on the poor, but as Long gained increasing power, he became increasingly corrupt.
