Fourth in a 13-part series of investigative programmes from the BBC regions.
Meningitis has been on the increase for almost a decade, is the biggest killer of children in Britain today, and is also on the increase in adults.
Tonight's programme looks at a number of cases which were not spotted quickly enough to save children's lives, and discovers that simple steps by doctors - such as the quick use of antibiotics in the early stages of the illness, which could prevent fatalities - are not always being taken. Presented by Phil Parry.
(Anxiety Attack, a new series on health scares starting tomorrow at 7.30pm, will also be looking at meningitis.)
