For the next nine days, the Lakeside Country Club in Frimley
Green, Surrey, plays hostto the World Professional Darts championship. Thirty-two players from around the world will be competing for prize money of L189,000, with the added incentive of 52,000 for a nine-dart checkout.
Strong favourites to win the competition are England's
Mervyn King and Raymond Bameveld from the Netherlands.
Live coverage of the first round begins at 7pm, featuring the match between number five seed Co Stompe , who reached the semi-finals last year, and England's Andy Smith. Ray Stubbs and Bobby George present the coverage. Commentary is by Tony Green and John Part.
