"Nothing of the sounds, nothing of the happenings of life should be forgotten. Of all bad habits the worst, to me, is to let resplendent things fade away"
Tonight's film biography has drawn on the vast collection of material Grainger made relating to his life, and it is the first detailed study of this unusual composer-pianist.
As a child in Melbourne, Percy Grainger (1882-1961) imagined a new musical sound which would be 'as free as the waves on the shore.' But his talent as a pianist prevented him from developing this 'free music' until he was in his 60s.
