In the early 1970s, Knussen wrote two chamber works that initiated the childlike playfulness that would surface again in his two operas. Today Oliver Knussen joins Donald Macleod to talk about these smaller works written while studying in the United States in his early twenties, and those he wrote on his return to Britain, including Triptych.
