World Cinema: The Blood of the Walsungs

on BBC Two England

(Walsungenblut)
Starring Michael Maien, Elena Nathanael

Thomas Mann is well known to cinema audiences in Germany but until Visconti's "Death in Venice" he had been sadly neglected elsewhere. Tonight's film, based on two of Mann's short stories, tells the tale of a deep brother/sister relationship, and is the work of one of Germany's best known directors, Rolf Thiele.
