on BBC Two England

A series made specially for audiences in the BBC Regions and now seen countrywide.
Tonight, from BBC North East: Fellmen
The first of two films from opposite ends of England about life and work in the countryside half a century ago. This week two retired labourers from Cumbria, JACK STUDHOLME and BOB STEPHENS , remember the way things were when to be a ploughman was the ambition of every country lad. The world has changed since then -progress has been almost unbelievably fast and violent. So much so that the life recalled by Jack and Bob might have been in another century - even another country.
