Long before the Normans invaded Britain, Maya astronomers, mathematicians and architects dominated the jungle of Central America with their brilliant, mysterious civilisation. After the Spanish Conquest the Maya and their monuments were engulfed by the rain forest; now dealers and museums have been joined by looters for the remaining treasures.
Dr Eric Thompson, one of the foremost living experts on the Maya, returns to explore their lost world.
