Stravinsky and the Ballet
It was through his scores for Diaghilev's Ballets Russes that Stravinsky first achieved international fame. He was to go on composing for the ballet almost the rest of his life, and in fact it influenced his musical thinking in whatever form he wrote. Movement and dance were the mainsprings of his imagination. The ballets in these programmes were composed between 1911 and 1947. Jeu de cartes
