The Time-Detectives; 6: The Tree That Put the Clock Back

on BBC Two England

Last of six Chronicle programmes.
The bristle-cone pine tree of California, oldest living thing on earth, has been used by scientists to re-date prehistoric Europe, and the outcome is startling, to say the least; it forces us to question the accepted theory that all great advances in man's development had their origins in the Near-East - the so-called 'Cradle of Civilisation.' Leading this attack on the old order is Professor Colin Renfrew of Southampton University, who talks to Magnus Magnusson. Written and narrated by MAGNUS MAGNUSSON
