4/8. The Stonehenge of the North. Mark Horton , Dave MacLeod and Jo Caruth investigate an area of North
Yorkshire landscape which stretches for more than a mile and is dominated by an arrangement of giant earthworks, banks and ditches. Research into the subsequent discovery of three huge amphitheatres built over 5,000 years previously leads archaeologists to uncover an astronomical link to suggest that these buildings, which attracted Neolithic pilgrims from across Britain, were one of the country's first temples to the heavens.
