Daumier (1807-1879) Ecce Homo at the Folkwang Museum, Essen
Although Honore Daumier was one of the great French caricaturists of the 19th century, his great ambition was to be taken seriously as a painter. He considered Ecce Homo, sometimes called We Want Barabbas, to be one of his most important works. It is a master-piece of narrative painting. Written and narrated by JOHN JACOB
