In the history of the car, few names evoke such emotion, reverence and sheer excitement as that of Ettore Bugatti. Born in 1881, he was as much an artist as an engineer - an individualist who not only designed his cars, but made the drawings and supervised production in his factory at Molsheim in Alsace, France.
In this celebration of the man and his cars, and their modern namesakes, Bugattis are seen arriving by barge at the Piazza San Marco in Venice - the first time ever that cars have been allowed to enter the city. In the words of the city's mayor: "Venice is a city of art and of excellence and therefore it is right to welcome Bugatti."
