Jeremy Summerly is joined by Richard Langham Smith to introduce the final choral works to be composed by Poulenc and Hindmith, before their deaths in 1963. The programme concludes with Alfred Desenclos 's setting of the Requiem, also written in 1963. Despite a considerable list of works, Desenclos remains relatively unknown among the French composers of his generation.
