Zoltan Kodaly , who will be seventy-six in December, wrote his Dances of Marosszek (a district in Transylvania) in 1930, in two versions-one for piano and one for orchestra. Emma Kodaly (nee Sandor) is his wife; the Variations in C minor were composed in 1907, three years before their marriage.
