Controversy: 4: Concorde - No Threat to the Environment

on BBC Two England

A series of six programmes
with Professor Richard Scorer

The American supersonic transport project was stopped largely because of objections from environmentalists. In the objections to Concorde, the main discussion centres on the political and economic issues, but fears have also been expressed that our environment will be harmed.

Professor Richard Scorer, of Imperial College, London, is both an environmentalist and a firm supporter of Concorde. He believes that fleets of Concordes in daily service would be no threat. Four scientists who disagree with Scorer argue with him in the Theatre of the Royal Institution.
