The Onely Sicknesse
Plague was the only sickness to be feared with such an intensity that whole cities were deserted. towns cordoned off and children left to die. But bubonic plague also brought about the introduction of sophisticated control measures including quarantine and fumigation of infected dwellings.
Geoff Watts examines the way plague was viewed by the clergy, the doctors and the people; and he assesses the effectiveness of the steps taken to combat the disease in the light of modem knowledge. Producer MILES BARTON
