In the second part of this special edition, Julian Richards visits a medieval hospital in Norwich and a casualty department in Weston-super-Mare to compare modern-day medicine with healing techniques in the Middle Ages. Plus the results of the Spitalfields dig.
8.15-8.55 Against the Empire: the Anglo-Boer War First in a two-part documentary, directed by Kenneth Griffith , that takes a personal view of events years on from the Boer War.
Griffith assumes the roles of protagonists in the struggle to tell how thousands of "Britisher gold-diggers" were drawn to South Africa. The actions of Neville Chamberlain and British army commanders come under close scrutiny, and the film also includes footage of interviews with veterans of the Boer War conducted by Griffith himself.
