Horizon: Living Nightmare

on BBC Two England

Narcolepsy sufferers live in a twilight world between waking and sleep, their symptoms including nightmarish hallucinations and paralysing fits. The strange condition baffled the medical world for years, until the recent revelation that drugs could remove the predisposition for unexpected lapses into unconsciousness. These drugs do not just affect narcolepsy patients, however; they could also bring the rest of us closer to a true 24-hour society.
