The Hudson Report

on BBC Two England

For two, years a small group of economists in Paris have been preparing a secret report on Britain's future. They are the European Division of the world famous Hudson Institute. Their conclusions are pessimistic - they say Britain will soon be one of the poorest nations in Europe. Is the Hudson Institute right? And if so, what can we do about it? To Professor Edmund Stillman , Director of Hudson Europe, the painful truth is, we may already be beyond the point of no return.
In tonight's programme ALAN WATSON invites PROFESSOR STILLMAN to face his critics - with film reports from RICHARD WAKELY , showing how the Hudson Report was made.
