An expedition, jointly sponsored by the London Zoo and the Television Service, has just returned from three months' filming and collecting rare birds and animals in the West African forest.
In this, the first of six programmes, Jack Lester, leader of the expedition and Curator of the Zoo's Reptile House, brings some of these animals to the studio, and with the aid of film tells the story of their capture.
Produced by David Attenborough who took part in the expedition and writes on page 6
