A volume containing almost the complete lyrical work of Bertolt Brecht (1898-1956), the great German playwright and poet, has recently been published in this country. This is the first of two programmes in which some of the new translations can be heard, together with the original German.

Helene Weigel, Brecht's wife, and the great German actor Ernst Busch on gramophone records. The English translations are read by Freda Bowie and John Rye
