The Natural World

on BBC Two England

The Sisterhood
Portrayed as skulking, cowardly scavengers, hyenas have long received an undeservedly bad press.
To set the record straight, this film reveals, for the first time, some of the most intimate moments in the life of Africa's strangest but most successful large carnivore - the spotted hyena. Forming a secretive, female-dominated society, hyenas operate largely under cover of darkness. In the deadly competition for food, this tough mafia of sisters takes on all comers - including the king of beasts. A film by RICHARD GOSS
