In this satirical tate set in the future, Renoir's view of modern life contrasts starkly with the sunlit landscape of its setting.
Professor Alexis, a candidate for the Presidency of United Europe, is convinced that artificial insemination is the answer to all society's problems. He plans to announce his own part in this scheme at a formal picnic, but some mysterious music played by a nearby goat-herd transforms the picnic into a rustic orgy.
